The specification sheet on this phone reads like a flagship's, and that is exactly why it is on this shelf. Look past the badge on the back and ask what you actually touch every day: the screen, the battery, how quickly it charges, how the camera behaves in bad light, and whether it survives being dropped or caught in the rain. On every one of those, the V50e is carrying flagship-class hardware.

Take the comparison people actually make, against Samsung's best. The Galaxy S25 Ultra is rated IP68. The V50e is rated IP68 AND IP69 — the second one covers high-pressure, high-temperature water jets, and it is the cheaper phone that has it. The S25 Ultra carries a 5,000 mAh battery and charges at 45W. The V50e carries 5,600 mAh and charges at 90W: a bigger battery, filled at twice the wattage. Those are not close-run things, and they are the differences you feel every single day rather than on a benchmark chart.

The display is a 6.77-inch quad-curved AMOLED running at 120 Hz — the same shape and the same refresh rate you find at the top of the market — behind vivo's Diamond Shield Glass, in a body 7.61 mm thick.

Three 50-megapixel cameras: a Sony IMX882 main sensor with optical stabilisation, a 116-degree ultra-wide, and a 50 MP front camera that autofocuses, which most selfie cameras still do not. The Aura Light ring is vivo's own trick and a genuinely useful one at a wedding, a puja or a night function, where phone photographs usually fall apart.

Now the other side, because a comparison that only runs one way is not worth reading. The Galaxy S25 Ultra beats this phone on raw processing power, on camera ceiling in difficult light, and on length of support — Samsung promises up to seven years of OS updates against vivo's three Android upgrades and four years of security patches. If you want the best phone that is made, buy that one.

So the honest summary is this. On the things you touch every hour — the size and smoothness of the screen, how long the battery lasts, how fast it fills, whether it survives the monsoon — the V50e matches or beats a phone selling for several times as much. On raw power, camera ceiling and length of support, it does not. Most people use the first list far more than the second, and that is the whole case for this phone.
